Still Life Painting

Today at Caterpillars the children have been busy doing some still life painting. First they arranged the flowers, thinking about which ones they would like to put next to each other. They  added some water to the vase and we discussed how important it is to top this water up over the next few days. Autumn Term Menu (2nd Half) 2016

With suggestions from the children, below is this half terms menu:


  • Julienne carrots, pitta, houmous
  • Sliced apple, breadsticks
  • julienne cucumber, rice cakes, soya spread/ cream cheese
  • Wholemeal toast with butter
  • Sliced cheddar cheese, cream crackers
  • Sliced banana, oat cakes


  • Sausages, sweet potato wedges, peas and onion gravy
  • Quorn spaghetti bolognese with garlic bread
  • Beef goulash, rice and green beans
  • Minestrone soup with crusty bread role
  • Cod fish fingers, marched potatoes/swede and sweetcorn
  • Chicken curry and naan bread

Carving a Pumpkin!

Today the children worked with Lauren and carved a pumpkin. They spoke about Halloween and what they were going to dress up as. They helped to think of a design and how to make the pumpkin look spooky! The children then worked together to scoop out all of the seeds and place them into a bowl. The children had lots of comments to make about the experience!
